Measuring chamfers can be difficult, when high precision and consistency are desirable. Often a straight edge chamfer is qualified with a comparison angle wedge, and may be rejected or approved by relying on the experienced eye of an operator.
But if you want quantified and repeatable measurements at higher resolution that the eye can achieve, nothing beats a 3D measurement. They take into account the adjoined surfaces and can quantify the angles between the adjoined surfaces, as well as the length of the chamfer area–and results are not dependent on trying to line up your measurement perpendicular to the surfaces involved.
